Sophrology is the means of producing relaxation of both body and mind. Once taught it can be used as a self treatment to induce a sense of deep calm and tranquility thus bringing about both pyschological and physical benefits. The patient is also taught how to gain a better control of their own bodily functions.
Clinical sophrology is used in Europe and the Far East and is used to treat the symptoms of natural childbirth, breathing problems, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorders, skin conditions such as eczema and many other conditions. It is also thought to be effective in increasing fertility.
This is a less invasive procedure and an alternative to gastric bypass surgery.
Called the 'stomach pacemaker', the tiny matchbox-sized gadget, when implanted within the stomach, slows down the movement of food through the intestine, making you feel fuller and preventing hunger pangs. The battery-powered electrical pacemaker unit is implanted under the skin around the waist and linked to a control unit worn outside the body. Electrical signals are transmitted to the muscles in the stomach wall via a wire implanted using keyhole surgery. They mimic the stomach's own electrical currents, which cause it to contract and empty.
