Now, city as medical tourism destination
CHANDIGARH: To bring Chandigarh on the world tourism map, the UT administration has decided to promote it as a destination for medical tourism. It was decided in a high-level meeting held under the chairmanship of home secretary-cum-secretary tourism, Krishna Mohan, which was also attended by the public representatives, and private hospitals located in the city and its periphery.
The administration has also decided to facilitate setting up of health resorts and centres for spa and fitness centres and facilities of alternative Indian treatment systems viz yoga, meditation, Panchkarma, massage et al in the rural areas of the city to attract the foreign tourists.
The participating hospital heads gave a very encouraging response to these efforts for promoting Chandigarh as a destination for medical tourism and termed it as an opening a new chapter in the history of Chandigarh tourism...
