750,000 Americans to travel for treatment


It is predicted that as many as 750,000 US citizens will travel for surgery in the year 2007.

That number is expected to grow to 6 million by 2010 driven by healthcare costs and the absence of insurance cover which presently afflicts 46 million in the US

2007 Trends - Medical Tourism?


A number of commentators have suggested that one of the trends for 2007 will be medical tourism driven by the relentless drive of consumers to take control of their destiny.

As USA Today puts it: "American consumers will be "globetrotting to find the best prices for the best medical care," seeking out overseas doctors to perform procedures not readily available or not covered by insurance. Celente, the USA Today journalist calls this "medical outsourcing."
