Penis Frenuloplasty
A frenuloplasty operation is done by loosening the foreskin's attachment to the head or glans of the penis.
Description
The foreskin is a flap or sleeve of skin which covers and protects the end or tip of the penis which is called the glans. Usually the foreskin can be pulled back to reveal the glans, but if it is attached to tightly to the underside of the glans, then it can cuase severe pain or bleeding if it tears during sex.
This is usually a simple procedure to lengthen the tight band which connects to foreskin to the underside of the glans but is usually done under general anaesthesia. A formal circumcision is usually not required.

Pain or discomfort is usually controlled with pain killers. Patients are able to get out of bed after 2-3 hours and usually go home the same day. A dressing is usually worn for around 12 hours to protect the area.
There will be some swelling and bruising around the soft tissues of the glans which takes around 3 days to resolve.
The discomfort may last for around a week but this can be controlled. Sexual activity can restart after around 2-3 weeks. Patients can return to a light job after a week but heavier or manual jobs should be avoided for around 2 weeks.
